Zeljko Obradovic declared satisfied by the effort of his players against Maroussi, on the first day of the Greek League, stating on the other hand his disappointment for the empty seats in OAKA: “I want first of all to repeat how bad it is for the players to play without fans. Our experience from the previous games against Maroussi and the way the team played so far in preparation was the motive for us to present ourselves ready for all 40 minutes of the game. We did some things very well in both offence and defence, but we ‘ll have to change some other things in our game, we have to react faster when the game is five against five. I want to congratulate my players, because they played seriously during the whole game. Maroussi has the quality to play much better in the future”.
Stratos Perperoglou stated: “We knew that we had to face a tough team like Maroussi. We were prepared for a difficult game. We played seriously and focused. Our goal is to improve game by game”.
“We knew is was going to be tough”
Soulis Markopoulos, Maroussi’s coach stated: “We knew that the game was going to be tough, since we had to face a strong team with great quality. Panathinaikos got the win fair, by pressing us from the first minute to end. It was something that created a lot of problems for us. When our guard got tired, Panathinaikos seemed to be alone on the floor. This is not the real Maroussi. I am sure we’ll be better in the future”.
Fanis Koubouras added: “We wanted to do something better than what we actually did. We had problems in offense and we couldn’t move the ball the way we wanted. We also had stress because it was the opening game of the League. I believe that we’ll play much better in the games to come”.
