Panathinaikos eventually did not pay the price of a num beginning and dominated Panellinios by 93-64 at the OAKA arena for day 18 in the Greek League.
The two teams went hand in hand only as far as the first quarter was in play, the guests getting to lead even by 5 points (11-16, 5’40’’). Diamantidis and Jasikevicius though were in a mischievous mood, set sail to getting things over and done with from the start of the encounter and were the ones who sent their teammates into fight-back gear. With the addition of Hatzivrettas on the court defense got even more intense thus the quarter ended at 21-22 and the score further more formulated to 38-25 at 13’ (17-4 “green” streak). Neither the technical foul charged to coach Obradovic by referee Gontas nor the fouls to the clover’s expense were enough to disorientate the hosts from their game so it was no surprise that they headed towards the locker rooms with the scoreboard reading 45-34 and things only got better in the second part as the “Greens” steadily expanded the gap; all the way up to +28 (73-45, 27’) and then +30 (77-47, 28’0 which marked the encounter’s greatest difference, round to +24 at third quarter buzzer (77-53), concluding in a +29 fashion at the end of the encounter, final score 93-64.
