Dimitris Diamantidis underwent laparoscopic surgery for the problem athlete hernia with mesh placement. The operation lasted for one hour was bloodless and took place in Athens Medical Center by Dr Konstantinos Konstantinidis, director of general, laparoscopic and robotic surgery of Athens Medical Center. Dr Konstantinidis said after the end of the procedure: «The procedure was bloodless and lasted for about one hour. Diamantidis will remain in the hospital for 24 hours for recovery and if he feels ok he will be cleared to leave the Medical Center. His situation will be re-evaluated in a few days. Following a plan for his rehabilitation will be made in co-operation with the medical staff of Panathinaikos. Normally in these situations 4-6 weeks will be needed”.
