Panathinaikos’s new jersey studded with the club’s five stars, was presented on the 16th of October at the cultural center ”Dais“ in an event that also hosted the 2009-10 season’s roster presentation; The jersey seals the renewal of the club’s collaboration with adidas which has been currently using new technology, supporting the- from now on- common path of both entirely successful industries backed by the motto ”Stronger together“.
The president of Panathinaikos BC, Pavlos Yannakopoulos stated: ”Dear colleagues, dear friends it is with great joy that I welcome you to the official presentation of the team and the jersey for the 2009-10 season; Our team concord not only the Euroleague, but also both Greek League and Cup. My wish is that adidas’ new outfits be combined with success and happy times. I hope we have a good season, goals and that we win all the titles again this year“.
The GM of adidas Group SE Europe Kyriakos Kofinas, presented Pavlos Yanakopoulos with the 2009-10 jersey to take the stand next: ”We are both proud and happy to have recently renewed our collaboration with Panathinaikos BC for the next three years, already enjoying great successes and title conquering so much on Greek as on European ground through are common root up to today. We support this successful cooperation, supplying the ”European Champs“ with high-tech and latest design competing and training gear. We hope that they will be related with many great competing moments so as the team’s fans can love them. Our new motto is ”Stronger together “, something that comes alongside our cooperation with Panathinaikos, seeing that it is a top basketball symbol and a role model club in Greece with administration, organization and technical staff that makes the team so appealing to first class players from all over the planet to want to compete in its barracks. The same motto follows our collaboration with the NBA, collaboration with a 10 year horizon “.
The marketing director of Panathinaikos BC, Ilias Katsogiannis, stated: ”This year we made an important change on the jersey. We officially used the orange ball with the five stars on the logo. This will follow our jersey. The surprise has to do with our third outfit. We have the green one, the white one and a third set in an entirely unusual to our fans color; a color that makes a statement of this team being a national product of Greece. It is the only competitor, throughout all sports that aims year after year at the top of Europe and has actually made it all the way up quite a few times. Panathinaikos BC is a national product. Finally, I would like to add that we will continue this year to maintain the worldwide originality that we embarked on last season, printing the team’s anthem on the numbers of the players, on the back of the shirts. It has been a point on which much interest has been gathered thus we continue, in order to give more people the possibility to obtain our jersey “.
Next up, Zeljko Obradovic and Dimitris Itoudis, coach and assistant coach respectively, wished all a season with health and titles before calling the team to present itself on stage. All 14 Panathinaikos players emerged from a basketball court wearing the new jerseys, team captain Dimitris Diamantidis dressed in the third outfit, which is light blue colored: ”I would like to wish that all the boys are healthy, to my teammates that are currently injured a swift recovery and come-back, and that the season will flow as successful and title-full as the last. We thank you all for coming“.
The floor now belonged to the three new faces on the Panathinaikos roster.
Milenko Tepic: ”It is a great honor to be a part of this team and to be working with this coach. I promise to give it my best, hoping to have a season like the previous one and to be able to defend all three titles. I believe that we can make it“.
Nick Calathes: ”Thank you all for being here. It is an honor to wear this jersey. We hope we’ll have a good season and repeat last year. We will have to find our chemistry and then I believe that we are destined for greatness“.
Yorgos Bogris: ”I would like to wish for a healthy season. I am delighted to be a part of the Panathinaikos family. My hope is that in next year’s presentation the jersey will be six times star studded. It is an honor to be working alongside the top technical staff and next to the best teammates!“.
Kyriakos Kofinas presented Zeljko Obradovic with his very own light-blue jersey, the Panathinaikos coach’s name printed on the back.
Info on the jersey – Technology:
Great emphasis was given to the designing details, the 5 stars currently decorating the team emblem and the anthem being maintained on the back number, after its great appeal as the main characteristic on the previous jersey. Exclusively on the jersey’s replica the name of the team in embroidery has been added on the top of the back side (Panathinaikos B.C.) and also a special authenticity label with the team’s and adidas’ logos exists on the front, down and to the right of the jersey. The fans can get the jerseys from the official club boutiques but also from the adidas stores.
The colors of the new jerseys are the traditional white with green for outfit 1, green with white for outfit 2, whilst for the first time and abiding to the new Euroleague rules a light-blue and white outfit exists as option number 3.
