“A step forward”

Panathinaikos downed Red Star and the Panathinaikos coach, Argyris Pedoulakis, stated pleased with his players’ effort, stressing however that work still needs to be done.

“We are pleased with all the guys’ effort, given the moment in time that the friendly game is being committed and the absences in very crucial positions. Something made quite apparent from 17 turnovers committed in the game, seeing that certain of the players we used in order to cover the Diamantidis-Ukic gapes got tired. We did enjoy positive aspects of our backcourt rotations. In offense however, there is still work to be done and it is only natural. We lack unison. In general though, I would like to say it again, we are pleased in a game performed under special circumstances for us, since even Sofoklis who did compete could not get much action time. He played for about 15 minutes. As far as automations, which we are in quest of, a step forward was made. Still guys who have a distance to cover exist, such as Armstrong, but there are others who stepped up and reacted accordingly to expectations, gaining experience much needed for the ensuing season. Problems we were faced with are not viewed on our part as an excuse for anything, more as an opportunity for certain guys to take a stand and gain playing time n order to be more appropriately prepared for what’s in store for us next”.
