Panathinaikos was crowned Champion of the Men’s Greek Cup 2013 after an exciting but also a riot-full Final at the Helliniko indoor stadium. The Greens outshone Olympiacos 81-78 enjoying dominance on the floor throughout the entire encounter.
The clover began way better only to lead in the game, no dispute of the issue in order. Good range, correct choices but also rebounding dominance (13-2 slightly prior to first quarter ending) led to 9-22 (9’10’’). Its opponent opted for counteraction, picked up its trail to 6 (17-23, 10’33’’), but as Schortsanitis would chip in to 17-26, the game was interrupted due to riots in the arena… When both teams returned to the floor an arena evacuation had been decided. Panathinaikos was more competitive, game recommencing, upped the ante all the way to 17 points (20-37, 16’22’’). The game image however, shifted in the second half. Panathinaikos’ rival fought back steadily to rename the gap between both teams at a 2 point distance Sloukas, Spanoulis and Antic to all make their shots from beyond the arc, the score board to now read 43-45 (23’43’’). Panathinaikos’ response was input immediately behind the big men pair Lasme-Gist to both finish up impressively around the basket (43-50, 25’40’’), team to be orchestrated by always good-as-gold Dimitris Diamantidis, team-captain to have co-guard Roko Leni Ukic on fire for the eve supporting his every action. The Greens stepped away even by 13 points (43-56, 25’50’’) but the game was anything but over. The advantage was run down once more to 2 (60-62, 32’), Panathinaikos re-established it to 7 (62-69, 34’20’’).However, slightly later, given the fact that game pace possession had swapped hands inbounds of the court, the clover trailed for the very first time in the eve (72-71, 37’) praise to a three unleashed by Kostas Sloukas. But this lead was not maintained. The Greens did not allow the game to get out of hand. Ukic and Diamantidis and then Stephane Lasme attended towards the Greek Cup remaining in Green possession all the way down to final 78-81 (clover to have been the away team in theory in the game).
