"This is our chance to make mistakes and correct them"

Argyris Pedoulakis sees in "Petros Ikonomakis" tournament a chance to test line ups and plays as the premier of the 2013-14 season begins on Tuesday. This is what he stated after today's game against Rethymno.

"We wanted to give playing time to the guys that has a secondary role regarding the creativity on the floor, so that they can step out of Dimitris' shadow. I believe that the creators are more important. We tested different line ups. Our defense during the first half was bad. We need that as an image, because we didn't have yesterday's game in order to understand what we have to do. In the second half we used players who are more defense oriented and they know how to step on the floor. I believe we all saw an open and nice game. These encounters are more like practices. They don't have anything to do with tactics. This year, as we did last year too, we are testing different things we want to see. The action is different than the theory. I have in my mind that we have to change things quickly, through watching a game and through practice. Today, basically, we didn't have guards. We are satisfied from some of the things we saw, but some other we are going to point them out to the players, so that they can understand what we want and to correct them".

Pedoulakis talked about James Gist too: "Gist has worked very much! But he is doing a lot of different things. He is a little confused right now and that makes sense, since he needs guidance. We are testing him in different positions. Basically, in the first half he was playing as a guard. His mistake was that he stuck on his opponent. He overdid it I would say. I repeat that it makes sense, since it's something he has done just 10 times in his life. We are going to need it through the season and that's why we are testing it now. These games give us this chance. I don't look at the score. I look at these games as a chance for the team to make mistakes, so that we can correct them".
