The head coach of Panathinaikos OPAP, Rick Pitino stated after the end of the game against Real Madrid:
"Well, it's a heartbreaking loss. We allowed luck to become an element in the game with our shot selection down the stretch. I don't think we could have run our offense any better in the first quarter, getting 32 points. Then we started holding the ball and reverting back to months ago, when we had four players watching one. That's why we scored 13 annd 14 points in the second and third quarters. But we blew a golden opportunity and we have no one to blame but ourselves."
