The first assemble of Panathinaikos players for the 2015-2016 season took place on Thursday afternoon at the OAKA sports center in Athens. At OAKA showed up the coach of the team Alexander Djordjevic, his assistants Milan Minic, Goran Bjedov, Sani Becirovic and the players: Dimitris Diamantidis, Antonis Fotsis, Nick Calathes , Vladimir Jankovic, James Gist, Lefteris Bochoridis, Michalis Lountzis, Sasha Pavlovic, Vasilis Charalambopoulos, George Papagiannis, George Kalaitzakis and also Nikos Pappas and Anthonis Koniaris, who are in recovery stage. Absent only Miroslav Rantoulitsa, Ognjen Kouzmits and James Feldaine who have obligations with theirs national teams.
Alexander Djordjevic said:
“I am member in one of the best teams of all time in European basketball. I want to thank the administration for giving me the opportunity to become head coach at Panathinaikos, a club with great history.
I know where I am, I have accepted the challenge.
With Panathinaikos’ officials we have decided the the roster is completed.. We have good young players, they are the future of Panathinaikos and we want to improve them, to develop them and help them to do their best in order to be at the leading position in the near future.
Panathinaikos’ goals are always high. We want to get the top level in Europe. For me the court is the ultimate mirror and there we need to show our value. I play to win. I want to win all the titles. We have dynamic and with the help of our fans we can do it.
Goran Bjedov:
"The preparation will be at a very good level , despite the problems. We will work with the players we have, we will try to put the rules in the team. We want to play hard, we want to play with dominance and fast breaks. We want to cultivate the talents present in the team . I have seen all the games in all youth categories, they are very good players and we must use them.
Sani Becirovic:
"It’s a new role for me, I'm excited. When I was asked from coach Djordjevic, I did not think twice. It is an honor for me to be back in Panathinaikos and its family. This enthusiasm will be showed in the court. I am expecting a lot this season,we have to fight for all titles and what we need is to transfer our passion to our players in order to achieve our goals. I was part of the golden years of Panathinaikos and I was trying to do my best for the team. That’s what I am going to do now. I want to help everyone to understand what means Panathinaikos".
