Tibor Pleiss was born on November 2, 1989, in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. He stands 2.21 meters tall and plays as a center.
Professional Career
Early Career & Germany
Pleiss began his professional basketball career with RheinEnergie Köln, where he won the German Cup in 2007.
In 2009, he joined Brose Bamberg, averaging 8.2 points and 5.7 rebounds in the EuroCup and 6.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in the EuroLeague. During his three-year tenure (2009-2012), he won the German Championship in three consecutive seasons (2010, 2011, 2012) and secured the German Cup three times (2010, 2011, 2012).
He was named to the Bundesliga Best Five in 2011 and 2012 and was twice recognized as the Best Young Player (2010 & 2011).
Spain & EuroLeague Experience
From 2012 to 2014, Pleiss played for Baskonia, averaging 8.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in the EuroLeague.
In 2014-2015, he joined FC Barcelona, contributing 5.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in the EuroLeague.
NBA & G-League
In 2015-2016, Pleiss signed with the Utah Jazz in the NBA, making his debut on October 30, 2015. He also played in the G-League for the Idaho Stampede, the Jazz’s affiliate team.
Return to Europe
2016-2017: Joined Galatasaray, playing under Ergin Ataman for the first time, with averages of 7.7 points and 4.6 rebounds in the EuroLeague.
2017-2018: Played for Valencia Basket, averaging 10.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in the EuroLeague.
2018-2024: Signed with Anadolu Efes Istanbul, reuniting with Ergin Ataman, where he won:
2 EuroLeague titles (2021, 2022)
3 Turkish League Championships (2019, 2021, 2023)
1 Turkish Cup (2022), earning MVP honors in the final
Over 185 EuroLeague appearances with Anadolu Efes, he maintained averages of 8.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
Overall, in his 13-year presence in the EuroLeague, he has recorded 336 appearances, averaging 8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
During the current season, Pleiss played for Trapani Shark in Italy’s Lega Basket, averaging 6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
