The game against AEL proved to be a good training session for Panathinaikos and one more win for the record. Zeliko Obradovic΄ team did not face any kind of trouble in the game and the Serbian coach had the opportunity to test different formations and give play time to all his players, with the starters getting some rest. One of the highlights of the game was the debut of Aris Tatarounis that showed good elements and was applauded by the fans. The difference in the potential of the two teams is great, but nevertheless Panathinaikos was serious and composed for the full 40 minutes. The team from Larissa fighted for 10 minutes; the entrance of Dimos Dikoudis and Dimitris Diamantidis (NB. He did not start) gave PAO the energy needed to take full control. The margin was at two-digits in the 14th (34-22) and was at 14 points (41-27) in the 19th. The first half ended with PAO at +16 (44-28) thanks to an Alevertis three-pointer. The second half was also a one-team game with Panathinaikos keeping control although speeding down at times. Nikos Chatzivretas took control in offense and led his team to a +20 (51-31, 23΄), and that΄s where the first slackness allowed Larissa to bring the score down to 54-42 in the 23rd. Another two-minute run by PAO gave them the lead by 65-44, but AEL, thanks to Tig and Kiss got close again in the end of the third period (65-52). From then on it was all Panathinaikos with the margin going up to 32 points (39΄, 91-59) with Becirovic and Alvertis taking over from Chatzivretas
