CSKA Moscow took advantage on its home court and it's now 2-0 against Panathinaikos after defeating the Greens 77-51. The third game of the Euroleague Play Offs series will be played at OAKA on Monday the 21st of April (21.45).
Panathinaikos started on the right foot, was sharp behind the arc and led 7-10 with Maciulis, Fotis and Roko Leni Ukic leading the team. Dimitris Diamantidis was hit in the face early in the game and he had to go the bench bleeding. The referees didn't stop the game, Panathinaikos defended with 4 players and the Russians shot for three with Sony Weems. The first quarter went on to the same rhythm up to 21-19 (10').
The situation changed dramatically in the second quarter. Panathinaikos had the shots and the chances but couldn't find the target. The result was written on the board where CSKA led 35-19. Greens were 4/17 from the floor, while the hosts were 13/17. Ramel Curry scored from the field for the first time for Panathinaikos at 16'25'', Gist and Ukic followed the same path and the two teams went to the locker room with CSKA leading 39-25, with a partial 18-6 in 10 minutes.
Panathinaikos tried to make its comeback, had a much better third quarter (11-14), cut the margin to 10 (42-32, 26'30''),but Ukic and Maciulis had already 3 fouls each. Greens came back for a 2nd time going from 50-34 (28'50'') to 50-39 (30'). The best Panathinaikos could do in the fourth quarter was to get the game to 10 points (50-40, 30'15''), but CSKA was took the charge of the game led to +21 (64-43, 35'50'') who got the win winning 77-51.
