Apollon P-Panathinaikos 67-82

Panathinaikos edged Apollon 82-67 in Patras and sweept the series 2-0 heading to the semifinals of Basket League OPAP. Greens will face PAOK. The first game will be played at OAKA on the 13th of May.

Fragkiskos Alvertis was there to see his players performing as he wanted since the tip off. Panathinaikos got to 0-7 with Dimitris Diamantidis leading on the floor. Got to 3-12 (4') with 5 points by the captain of the team and went on in the same rhythm to second quarter. Mike Bramos with back to back three point shots led to +12 (13-25, 11'). Apollon reacted with Wilson, Ross and Petrovic, cutting the lead to 4 points (21-25, 13'25''). Ramel Curry scored behind the arc (21-28, 14') and the hosts answered for 23-28 (14'45''). Diamantidis returned on the floor, with James Gist and Nikos Pappas leading to 27-38 (19'50'').

Clover managed to keep its distance from Apollon. The hosts tried to stay close, without allowing Panathinaikos to get to a big margin. The third quarter ended with Greens leading by 13 (45-58). Things didn't change a lot in the fourth quarter. The margin got to +17 (54-71, 36') and the game ended 67-82. Both coaches used all their players, giving time on the floor to the younger ones. Panathinaikos used 17 years old Vassilis Charalampopoulos, who was in the delegation, instead of Jonas Maciulis who was given time to rest.
