Alvertis: “You don’t have the right to relax”

Fragkiskos Alvertis was clear at the press conference, stating that the 2nd final at SEF was more or less “judged” in the first quarter.

“All these games require extra focus than usual. You don’t have the right to relax. We didn’t begin well and we decided to play everything was judged already. We let Olympiacos make a lot of open shots and they were right on target. We are now in 1-1 and we are heading back to OAKA for the 3rd final. We want to play in a whole different way”.

Antonis Fotsis (player, Panathinaikos) stated: “Today the game didn’t work out well for us. We let Olympiacos enforce its style of game since the tip off. They got to a big difference and we weren’t able to close the gap. They played better and they won fair”.

Giorgos Bartzokas (coach, Olympiacos) stated: “We tied the series, something we ought to do. Our mission remains difficult, because we must win at OAKA. Today we were good in both sides of the court. We scored a lot of points against Panathinaikos’ good defense. Things after the first quarter became easier for us. We operated as a team and we worked well together in defense. What counts is the victory and not the final margin. It depends on how each team will handle the result. The series in on 1-1, but this victory is a confidence boost for us. Now we are heading to the next game, on Thursday, and we have to perform better”.

Vaggelis Mantzaris (player, Olympiacos) stated: “We are happy with the way we played and how the team reacted. We demonstrated since the tip off how much we wanted this win. We built a difference, we held this margin and we didn’t allow our opponent to make its comeback. Now we are heading to OAKA and we want one more game like this in order to get the win”.
