Panathinaikos-Peristeri 89-66

Panathinaikos nailed a home win for day 3 in the Greek League across from Peristeri by final score 89-66.

Zeljko Obradovic’s players presented quite a pleasing performance at both ends of the court. The game featured Milenko Tepic in his most mature game up to date with the clover jersey. The greens started off well from tip-off and at 5’ was up by 6 (8-2), mainly off offensive attempts from Calathes. Score went to 14-6 (7’30’’) however Scott and Sensley were there to input an immediate response to the hosts’ siege. The gap closed to 16-12 but what followed was exclusively Panathinaikos game. Basing all efforts in great backcourt function and continuous fast-breaks, Milenko Tepic getting game during this period of time, it broke away by 13 (25-12, 12’’) and then on to a 14 point cushion (33-19, 16’), Tepic this time joining forces with teammate Calathes. A triple drained by Sato rose the edge to 15 (36-21, 17’), as the clash went into recess, Panathinaikos currently at +11 (43-32), coach Obradovic having not yet used Diamantidis and Tsartsaris, offering some well deserved rest to the pair.

Nevertheless both got some action game recommencing, the captain introducing himself to the scoreboard behind a nothing but net three, followed by a bucket off Vougioukas to rise the advantage for the greens to 19 points worth a distance (51-32, 22’30’’). Argyris Pedoulakis urgently called for a time-out in order to cut into the clover’s explosive pace. However, he did not manage much, as the home-team held the pedal to the metal in offense, whilst defense had become stifling. At 28’ the gap peaked at 28 points, third quarter coinciding with the encounter’s unofficial terminal as the score stood at 72-47.

Final quarter was clearly of procedural nature, Zeljko Obradovic being presented with a prime-time opportunity to experiment on court in different schemes and formations, also pulling off the bench youngster Maragkos and Karamalegkos, distance price reaching game high at 33’ (82-52), only to see on to final score 89-66.
