“We played this match with great self-confidence. I think we had a clear plan in the defense, which was the key to win the match, and we played with passion in the offense. The most important was that we didn’t let Olympiacos take a bigger lead. One point was enough for us to win and, also, several players proved that we can count on them in our effort to build a new team. I mean Blums and the four young ones.”
Panathinaikos’ top scorer in the game, Nikos Pappas, commented: “It was an amazing match; spectacular and with suspense. We remained calm, we turned the match around and in the very last seconds we scored and won the game.”
When asked how Panathinaikos managed to make a comeback, he answered: “To tell the truth, Olympiacos has a rich roster, good players and coaches. We had the right direction from the bench. I don’t know whether we deserved the win or not. We have the heart of a champion and whoever gets on the court wants to win –– and that’s what we did.”
