Panathinaikos prevailed over Peristeri by 104-69 in the context of the OPAP BasketLeague 11th competition date without facing any particular resistance. Stratos Perperoglou’s return in action was an important element in the game.
Panathinaikos did not leave Peristeri any leeway to react. From the very first minute it imposed its own pace in the game. It quickly got to a 10-0 run (2’10’’) and from that point onward had no particular problems to deal with. Zeljko Obradovic began the rotation early on and got to use all 12 of his players in the first 12 minutes of the game. The first quarter came to an end with a double score showing on the scoreboard (26-13) and a show-stopper fact, as Stratos Perperoglou got on court for the first time this year at 9’50’’ into the game. The score difference broke even wider in the second quarter, with Aleks Maric pushing it as far as +22-points (46-24, 19’10’’) and halftime ending with the score at 49-26.
A three-pointer by Dimitris Diamantidis led the score for the first time to a 30-point difference (63-33, 24’20’’), and Romain Sato pushed it further to +34 points (69-35, 26’10’’), before the third quarter closed at 75-43. Panathinaikos’ defense kept leading to steals and fast-breaks getting the score to 81-46 (31’40’’). Kaimakoglou and Maric kept adding to the score (+37, 88-51, 34’20’’). A spectacular slam-dunk by Logan broke the ‘100-points’ mark for Panathinaikos (101-66, 39’); following his example, Perperoglou turned the score to 103-69 (39’30’’) in much the same way, before the final 104-69 appeared on the scoreboard.
