“One of our worst games in offence”

After the end of the game at “Alexandreion” Zeljko Obradovic was troubled about his team’s performance in offence, but appeared to be optimistic about the rest of the games. “I expected a difficult game and this is exactly how tonight’s game against Aris was. Congratulations to our opponents for playing good defense. Undoubtedly for us, this was one of our worst games in offence, not only because we were unsuccessful when shooting, but also due to the fact that what has been our trademark for years, that is to say ball rotation and creativity, was non-existent today. In the first half we committed 10 turnovers, which is way many. Defensively, we had trouble with the one-on-one defense and Aris could have won. As far as the turnovers in situations under pressure are concerned, players are human and humans make mistakes. We have a tough Euroleague game ahead of us and must play better in one-on-one defense, but also in offence, with good passing game and creativity, going back to the level we have been for so many years.”

On his turn, Ian Vougioukas noted: “We knew how powerful a home arena Aris has. We must improve things in order to rise to the occasion of the rest of our competition obligations. Through proper practice sessions, we want to be ready for our first Euroleague Top16 game.”
