The game at the PAOK indoor arena in Thessaloniki was balanced through three quarters, Panathinaikos shifting its performance a gear up for last period to seal the win at 71-61 final score versus the home-team; a win behind which BasekLeague OPAP regular season came full circle.
Panathinaikos and PAOK went neck and neck for the greatest part of the game. The Greens had first say, managed to form certain score advantages, but the hosts performed counteractions of their own, gaining on their guests once more. It was a scenario which played out more than once… For instance in first quarter, when 9-13 (8’) became 13-13 (10’), in second quarter the other way around when 22-16 (13’), turned to 26-29 (17’), only for half time to come in session, score board reading 33-33.
Panathinaikos broke away by 4 at the beginning of second half (36-40, 22’), praise to Dimitris Diamantidis and then to 43-48 (28’) behind Bramos and Curry, but on both occasions PAOK managed to tie matters on court (40-40 at 23’ and 48-48 at 29’). Last quarter however was all Panathinaikos game. Diamantidis and Ramel Curry set the tone (48-56, 32’10’’), Ukic and Maciulis followed in their steps (52-61, 34’30’’), only for the game to end at 61-71, final score at Pylea.
