Panathinaikso BC during the 1st Basket League OPAP final against Olympiacos at OAKA proved with actions that it is against any form of violence, physical or verbal.
For this reason members of Panathinaikos’ administration addressed to fans and made everything in their power to stop fans from cursing the opponents. This happened every time the referees stopped the game. It seems that our behavior was not valued neither by Olympiacos BC nor by the referees.
In the 2nd Basket League OPAP final at SEF we faced a completely different situation. Not regarding fans cursing our players, but regarding the way the referees dealt with this fact by Christodoulou, Piloidis and Foufis, who didn’t interrupt the game not even once. Something that have happened at OAKA by the referees.
We have to do with the same incident, but with a different reaction. Only those who chose this different reaction can answer “why”?
As Panathinaikos BC we demand the obvious: Equal treatment. And this means that we cannot tolerate by the referees who will be at the game on Thursday different treatment than the one Olympiacos had at SEF.
We believe that this is understandable…
