Panathinaikos BC is a club used to standing out not only on court, but also off court exhibiting a pioneering presence on social media, among others.
Our Facebook page won the "Best Use of Social Media in Sports 2014" Bronze Prize at the Social Media Awards 2014 event on Thurday, October 30.
The Social Media Awards 2014 were organized for the second year by Boussias Communications' (a business publishing and information company) magazine Marketing Week with the aim of evaluating, singling out and rewarding the most innovative and effective social media campaigns per industry of companies and social media agencies operating in Greece.
Panathinaikos BC was represented at the event by its Social Media Specialist Nikolas Bardakis, who received the prize.
It should be noted that Panathinaikos BC is present on such social media as facebook, twitter, instagram, linkedin as well as on youtube.
Panathinaikos BC Chief Operations Officer Ilias Katsogiannis stated:
"In April 2011, Panathinaikos BC was the first among all the clubs to start building its official community on the social media –– Facebook, Instagram, Twitter as well as the official channel on YouTube. Our aim was to provide the means in order for the six-time European champions' hundreds of thousands of fans to learn the news, have fun and engage in activities that have to do with the club. Moreover, we were the first to create a linkedin account, in order to promote our company profile.
To better make use of the social media, we came up with innovative activities and applications so that we can return part of the love and support our fans show us to them as well as develop the marketing potential of our online presence.
We are proud of the fact that three years later we can reap the rewards for our efforts. Our online community has now reached more than 350,000 followers and we have just been awarded the "Best Use of Social Media in Sports 2014" Bronze Prize. It is more than certain that we will continue to expand our online community.
