Stephane Lasme signed his new contract with Panathinaikos and is officially a player on the team’s roster for the 2012-13 season.
Lasme spoke to paobc.gr from Boston where he is currently situated: “I believe that Panathinaikos is the right place for me. I know that the deal took a while to settle, but the important thing for me is that it ultimately happened. I am moving forward. It is the right moment for this move to be made. I know what Panathinaikos stands for. I know its history, its titles, the players that have competed in this team and the players who are competing now. I have faced Diamantidis, Panko… I know Schortsanitis, Ukic. I know Kitchen because we have worked together. I have always watched games, players, leagues; as do I also know that it has an amazing crowd, which I would like to have by my side from now on. Promises and statements are not in my character. So, what I would like to say, and what I believe my teammates want, is for us to gather wins. To take it game by game and collect positive results. That is the right way to proceed in order to be able to achieve your goals”.
Lasme also made reference to Greece with which his roads cross for yet another time in his career. “My first coach in my college championship was Steve Lappas. He was of Greek origins as apparent from his name also. He spotted me at a basketball camp and took me to the University of Massachusetts . He gave me the opportunity to play; he was my coach for three years and taught me a great deal. I am deeply grateful to him”.
