Jason Kapono was expected to land in “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport on Sunday (18/11), but a family problem kept him from boarding on the plane. Kapono, who has previously reached an agreement with Panathinaikos, issued the following statement:
“After reaching an agreement with Panathinaikos earlier this week, I was subsequently faced with an unexpected family situation that has delayed my departure for Greece. It is unclear at this time whether this situation may ultimately prevent me from fulfilling my obligation to the club, but I will stay in close communication with club representatives over the next week as my family and I work towards a positive resolution of the matter. Panathinaikos is one of the most legendary sport clubs in Europe and I was very excited to be a part of their winning tradition. Everyone from the club has been extremely professional and respectful of my situation, especially Mr. Giannakopoulos, whom I want to personally thank for his support.” - Jason Kapono
