Panathinaikos from tomorrow will have a new face on its roster. Jason Kapono is expected in Athens tomorrow (December 11) at 18.00 and will be landing at the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport via London .
Kapono (February 4, 1981) was born in Long Beach , California , USA . He actually remained in California through High school (Artesia, Lakewood ) and College (UCLA). He was the first UCLA player ever to be named to the All Pacific 10 team all four years of his term at College, while all four years was he his team’s top scorer. Next step, with his degree in History nailed, was made in the NBA. He was picked at number 31 of the 2003 second round drafts by the Cleveland Cavaliers (2003-04). Next he competed for the Charlotte Bobcats (2004-05), Miami Heat (2005-07),Toronto Raptors (2007-09), Philadelphia Sixers (2009-2011) and Los Angeles Lakers (2011-12). He was named NBA Champion in 2006, won the three-point competition twice (2007 and 2008) and came first twice in NBA all season three-point range stats (2007/51,4% and 2008/48,3%).
