A very unique individual in the Panathinaikos history was honored at the OAKA indoor arena by the Green BC. Kostas Mourouzis was present at the court to be honored by the BC’s Vise President, Manos Papadopoulos, surrounded by President Dimitris Giannakopoulos, Tassos Stefanou and Frangiskos Alvertis.
Mourouzis as Head Coach led Panathinaikos to six Greek League championships and to two of its first ever European distinguishes. Moved by the honor, he admitted that his greatest love had always been the basketball ball, dedicating every success of his to his wife, who recently passed: “The years within basketball offered me a strength and optimism in life and they made me feel a human being. The truth is that all through it one person stood always by my side, I had my wife’s support, who I recently lost and to whom I dedicate all the success throughout my entire career as player and coach. Even though I had told her that I marry you because I love you. But I have a greater love than yours. A basketball ball…At the moment Panathinaikos is going through a tough transition, because after consecutive successes it is only natural satiety exists and it is something you are called upon to deal with”.
