Yet another top spot for Panathinaikos. This time through its technical staff and its Head Coach Argyris Pedoulakis, who was named Coach of the Year for the 2012-13 Basket League OPAP season after a HEBA voting.
Pedoulakis refused to take credits and enjoy the lime light, as he would steer focus on his coworkers, his players and all to aid the team or stand by it: “Essentially this distinction reflects team-work, in which the players were the protagonists. So they are to be set center-stage, as they would input a huge effort all through the season. And it is also an achievement accomplished by the entire technical staff, but also by all the people to be close to this team. Great work was done in Panathinaikos, but not on a personal level; on a team level. I believe this to be the key and that this achievement reflects the entire team from the president all the way through to Paris (and I state this not because our equipment steward is the last in line to offer, but because this is the team’s lay-out), in a different and tough season. And I would like to thank them all for their assistance through the entire year. From the very first down to the very last day. I believe that the representatives of the Press also saw all the work that a team of people put in and this very work is what they rewarded. I do not believe in personal achievements, because they usually “entrap” people. In any event, it is a time of many and not of one”.
Pedoulakis gathered 90 points in the voting. Girogos Bartzokas, Olympiacos Head Coach came in second (38), Vangelis Angelou ranked third (Aris, 30), Giannis Sferopoulos landed in fourth place (Panionios, 19), fifth place was covered by Soulis Markopoulos (PAOK, 12), Nikos Vetoulas came in sixth (Apollon P., 11), Thanassis Giaples rounded up at seventh place (Rethymno, 5) and Giorgos Kalafatakis came in eighth (Ikaros K., 1).
