Vladimir Jankovic is one of the young players, whom Panathinaikos “invested in” this summer. And the question “why” might find an answer in his distinction today, as after a HEBA voting, he would be named most improved player of the Basket League OPAP 2012-13 season.
“It had been a goal I had set from the beginning of the season. To improve as much as possible”, stressed the Greek Forward only to add: “You feel to have further justified those who supported you and aided you through the entire process, while at the same time you prove to those who did not believe in, that you can actually make it. But in both cases, lies a motive. You state “I am here”… To me it is significant to be able to get this distinction every season if possible. Meaning, that I would like to establish methods of improving every season through daily work at the court. I would also like to thank Panionios, since this achievement, the season that just ended, became a reality exactly beacause the team believed in me and enhanced me with confidence. I have still a long way to go… I believe I can become better, I can improve in many departments of the game. I want to play better this season also. I know that during this season I will be facing new challenges; what I aspire towards, is to adapt to the team’s climate and be able to prepare for a tough season with high goals, just like the ones Panathinaikos sets every season”.
Jankovic ranked first on the list behind 70 points, while in second place yet another player to have competed for Panionios last season and to be now wearing the Panathinaikos jersey followed, Nikos Pappas behind 45 points.
