Lasme, best defender on both sides of the border

After being named Euroleague 2012-13 season’s best defender, Stephane Lasme was also named Basket League OPAP 2012-13 season’s best defender, leaving the Panathinaikos leader and top defender Dimitris Diamantidis in second place.

“I am very happy for the achievement, which really means a great deal to me…”, Stephane Lasme stated, pointing however, towards the team’s direction: “It is a reward for an effort, but not only mine. Defense is a matter of will in each player, but moreover in it is the entire team’s job. In Panathinaikos, we all wanted to play defense. So, this distinction, belongs to the entire team and all the effort we input all together, throughout the season in order to manage to conquer the championship. It is a part of the game that acted as the base of our competing method throughout the year and which presented us with wins and accomplishments. I would like to thank all those who viewed me to be the best defender and my team, as I would also like to thank everyone on the team, because without them no personal achievement is really actually feasible”.

Lasme gathered 80 points. Dimitris Diamantidis followed in second place (37), while James Gist, Mike Bramos and Roko Leni Ukic also landed a spot on the list of the season’s best defenders, as also did one of Panathinaikos’ newcomers, Vladimiros Jankovic.
