Jonas Maciulis will be staying on for Panathinaikos through the next two seasons and not once did he ever try to hide his positive feelings about it, nor that it had been his aspiration right from the very beginning.
“I am very happy to be back in Panathinaikos, or actually to be remaining. I would really like to thank everyone on the team for supporting and believing in me. It had been something I had been waiting for all summer long and I am truly happy it became a reality. It is very important that the greatest part of last season’s team has stayed the same, because it will be a great assistance for the season to follow. At the least, we want to play at the same level, aiming however, to further improve. If we manage to do so and granted the additions made to the team, it will be enough for us to be able to make it all the way to the Final Four. It is a really important thing that on this team a friendly atmosphere existed; everyone knew their role, their position without anyone aspiring to prove something on a personal level. We all worked for the team and this is what we will continue to do. We were a great gang, one big Green happy family; and that is exactly how we will remain. I would like to thank all the Panathinaikos friends for their support all season long last year, but also for all their messages during the summer. This kind of support can bring on quite a sentiment. The main thing however, was that both President and Head Coach wanted me and established a way to keep me on the team, something that was also a great desire of my own!”
