Ping Shang, the first Chinese player ever to compete for Panathinaikos and Euroleague, arrived this morning at the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport.
Shang slightly after his arrival in Athens, via Istanbul, with a smile on his face and a Panathinaikos cap with its six stars on his head, stressed: “It is with great pleasure that I embrace being the first Chinese player on the team and I am thoroughly thrilled to be here. My goal can be none other than to do the best I can in order to assist the team from my side”.
Saying “yes” to Panathinaikos’ proposal was something he did not need to put much thought into as he admitted: “Panathinaikos is the best team in Europe. I knew the team, I know that it has achieved everything and it is a dream come true to be getting to play for it”.
The Chinese Center will be undergoing exams and this afternoon is expected to be present for Panathinaikos’ first assembly of the season: “I want to speak with the coach and my teammates. I can’t wait to meet them all and get down to business”
The first training session of the 2013-14 season will be committed this afternoon at 18.00 in the OAKA gym’s auxiliary training courts.
