Skordilis: “The team is being built now”

The first part of Panathinaikos’ preseason training camp is almost over. Tomorrow will be the team’s last day in Karpenisi, since on Tuesday (September 3), the Greens’ delegation will be departing from the capital of Eurytani. Preseason prep will continue then forward in Athens, until it is time for the first preseason games.

Gaios Skordilis, during his second term with Panathinaikos, speaks about these first days of preparation and not only: “It is certainly the toughest time of the year, but at the same time we all know that it is one of the main parts. It is the time span in which the team is being built. New plays are introduced, it is when we get better acquainted with the new faces and it is important that a good job is done”.

It goes without saying that exhaustion exists and he is not one to hide it: “It goes without saying that there is tiredness. It is only to be expected. There is also mind exhaustion, because you try to get all the game plans in your head, but also in your body; however, over time you get to manage it on both levels”.

For him however, this second season of his is much better: “I feel much better. I know the people, the situations and competitively I know what the coach wants. It is so, much easier and I am trying to help as best I can during preseason, but also the guys that are new on the team”.

Yesterday afternoon and this morning the team had time off, while this afternoon it will be getting back to training sessions.
