Pedoulakis: "The history and the jersey set the goals for the team"

Panathinaikos played much better during the second day of "Gomelsky Cup" in Moscow, defeating Maccabi Electra. Argyris Pedoulakis pointed to the line up with four "short" players he used and talked about the real importance of the preseason games.

"In the first half the game was open and defense came second. Playing this way, Maccabi has the advantage. It's their game. In the second half we lowered the line up, we played better in defense, while at the same time we aimed at the right points in offense. At this time of season the results in preseason games don't really matter. For us it was just the second preseason game. We still have much work ahead of us".

Pedoulakis was asked about the goals of the team: "Frankly it's very early to talk about goals. We are a new team comparing with last year's team. The history and the jersey of Panathinaikos prompt us to aim always for the best possible result".

Regarding the presence in the tournament of teams that Panathinaikos is going to meet also in Euroleague, at the same group, Pedoulakis said: "Euroleague in general is a high level competition, a tough competition. This is a given. We are going to fight for every game the way we always do".

Jonas Maciulis said: "It was difficult for us in the beginning. We are all together for just a few days and it was difficult to find our rhythm. In the second half we play better in both offense and defense. It was a result we wanted and we took it".

*Panathinaikos is expected to land at "Eleftherios Venizelos" airport at 12.20.
