Panathinaikos is in Rethymno, in order to participate in "Petros Ikonomakis" tournament. Panathinaikos will face today at 19.00 Lukoil Academic Sofia, tomorrow at 19.00 Rethymno Aegean and on Sunday (6/10) at 15.30 Panionios.
Argyris Pedoulakis stated at the press conference, prior to the tip off of the tournament: "We are really happy to be here, at the most beautiful part of Greece, Crete and especially Rethymno. We accepted the invitation with great joy and we are happy to be here for a second straight year. It's a tournament which helps decentralization. Rethymno has the infrastructure and the right way of thinking in order to make this tournament a really strong one. The name of Panathinaikos helps towards this direction, in order to attract other teams. If we can, we'll be here in the future too. We are all together as a team for 6-7 days now. We had only three practices and we have obligations. We have to move to... fast learning, because especially in Euroleague the first round will be really tough with five games away from home. We want to spot our mistakes and correct them. It's easier to spot your mistakes in a game than in a practice".
Pedoulakis was asked about Loukas Mavrokefalidis, since he is injured, but he travelled with the team: "He is trying to return on the floor. He is better, but he needs time and we have to be really careful. We shall not have Curry today on the floor, since he has a muscular spasm at his neck. The doctors will tell us when he is going to be ready to play".
