Panathinaikos made a double change in its roster, since the team said goodbye to Skordilis and welcomed Apostolidis.
The contract with Guy Skordilis was resolved today and Panathinaikos thanks him for his presence in the team, wishing him luck for the rest of his career. At the same time the team signed Giorgos Apostolidis for the rest of the season.
Giorgos Apostolidis (2m00, guard) was born in 22nd of June 1984 in Thessaloniki. His first acquaintance with basketball came through PAOK academies, getting all the way to the men's team. He then played for Iraklis (2003-05), Olympia Larisas (2005-07), Panellinios (2007-08), ΑΕL (2008-09), Trikala (2009-10), PAOK (2010-11), Ilissiakos (2011-12). He was present with Panathinaikos throughout the preseason.
He competed in the Youth National Teams of Greece (U18, U20). He celebrated the silver medal in 2005 U20 World Championship and two silver medals in 2002 U18 European Championship and 2003 U20 World Championship.
Apostolidis stated: "I am happy that I am part of the team. I practice with the team since the beginning of the training camp. I was feeling and functioning as a member of the team anyway. I am now part of the team and there is really nothing else to say than that I am happy. It's an honor to be able to be in Panathinaikos and what I want is to work really hard in order to help as much as I can".
