Ataman: "There is only one reality: we must win"

Ergin Ataman addressed the media prior to Panathinaikos AKTOR’s departure for Belgrade, where they will face Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv on the evening of Wednesday, March 26.

The Panathinaikos AKTOR head coach stated:

"Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv has won its last four games. They have some injuries, but they are playing well, especially with Jokubaitis and Blatt back after their injuries. This is a very important game for us in terms of standings. Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will fight for the win, that is certain."

When asked about the team’s latest injury concerns, he responded:
"We have two new injured players, both in the same position. However, we are at the final stage of the regular season, with only four games remaining. We cannot afford to use anything as an excuse. There is only one reality: we must win! We have to win to achieve our goal, which is to finish in the top four. Every team is fighting for the playoffs. For us, the only reality is winning or losing. I do not want to focus on the injuries but rather on the healthy players we have available. I believe we can manage the game with seven or eight players. If necessary, we can also utilize some of our young players."

Gabriel: "This game means a lot to us"

Wenyen Gabriel spoke about the significance of the away game against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv and the factors that make the Israeli team a dangerous opponent.

Here is what he stated:

"Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv is strong in the paint, playing with two big men. They switch on defense and use an adaptive zone. We need to disrupt their rhythm, play solid team defense both inside and outside the key, and control the tempo.

They play with great confidence and freedom, fighting for their pride and honor. They have talented players who want to win and pay attention to every detail. This game means a lot to us, especially considering the standings, so we must approach it with great respect.

Unfortunately, we lost two important players for our rotation. But that is part of the game. Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv is also dealing with injuries. You see this happening across the competition. We still have enough players to step up, play the game, and do what it takes to win.

There are no secrets—only respect. We need to step on the court and give all the energy we have, especially since there will be no fans in the stands, in order to secure the victory."
