Ahead of the “Nick Galis Cup” tournament in Thessaloniki, Northern Greece, at which Panathinaikos BC will honor Nick Galis, Panathinaikos BC President, Dimitris Giannakopoulos, made the following statement:
“Each and everyone who loves sports is aware of Nick Galis’s significance. Because of him thousands of people turned to basketball, and he deserves the recognition and respect he gained among his teammates and opponents. Nick Galis deserves only to be honored and respected, and we, on our part, congratulate Aris BC on the great initiative to host this tournament, which we wish to be established as a yearly event. Panathinaikos BC could not be absent from such an event and miss the opportunity to pay tribute to Nick Galis ––as the simplest sign of respect and recognition–– for his invaluable contribution to the sport we love and to Greek sports in general.”
Panathinaikos BC President’s busy schedule will not allow him to travel to Thessaloniki. Instead, Vice-President Manos Papadopoulos will present an honorary plate to Nick Galis.
