Panathinaikos Athens recovered from a slow start to down Virtus Segafredo Bologna 88-85 after overtime, advancing to 3-6 and climbing off the foot of the standings. Virtus drops to 4-5.
Virtus quickly took control to lead by double digits, but Panathinaikos responded well in the second quarter and maintained the momentum to surge ahead towards the end of the third.
Virtus came back to force the extra period, which was settled by a late triple from Derrick Williams. Williams was the game’s dominant force, pairing 26 points with 8 rebounds. Nate Wolters added 18 points, Paris Lee scored 15, Dwayne Bacon 14 and Arturas Gudaitis had 10. Mam Jaiteh powered Virtus with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Semi Ojeleye scored 19.
