FC Barcelona was forced to dig deep in the final quarter of a 74-68 home win over Panathinaikos Athens after the visitors staged a valiant comeback to force a dramatic climax to their Turkish Airlines EuroLeague clash at Palau Blaugrana on Friday.
The result completed a fine week for Barcelona, who previously beat AS Monaco 69-63, while Panathinaikos suffered its second successive defeat after a 94-91 overtime loss at Valencia Basket. Second-placed Barca improved to 10-4 and stayed even with leader Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, with Panathinaikos dropping to 6-8 in 11th place.
