Panathinaikos Head Coach, Argyris Pedoulakis spoke at the Press conference after the game versus Brose Baskets.
“As we had mentioned, it was a game which was tough and it was proven in action. It is a structured team, Bamberg, one which exploits any mistake you make. We had our moments when we were good and others in which we were not, like in the rebounding department. During fourth quarter we went into special circumstances at the end and we should have functioned better but we did not. The win was important because it brings us back to positive results. There is no such thing as easy and tough games in Euroleague”.
Pedoulakis denied that the Panathinaikos players had Olympiakos weighing on their minds: “We were not who we should have been. It takes greater experience, you walk through experience. Olympiakos had nothing to do with it. We had stated that it is a team with principals; it got to shots even though we switched in defense, it mesmerizes you with its game manner and it nails you while you are not focused. We did not underestimate Bamberg”.
Pedoulakis estimated that “we improved in offense, read into situations and Diamantidis as time went by got better, while in the last quarter we found solutions, but we paid the cost of offering many second chance offenses, which injured us”.
Chris Fleming, Brose Baskets Head Coach, stated: “It was a tough game and a hard way to lose. Congratulations to Panathinaikos. My team is not performing a good Top16 round, we lost many games. We hung our heads low at some point, but we fought back, played better, believed in each other and remained calm when we trailed by 9 during the third quarter. We continued to play, did a good job in rebounding, a department in which we suffered in other games. We played a strong game and maybe we deserved something better but this did not happen this evening. I wish Panathinaikos all the best down the road. We will continue to work hard in order to become better”.
