Argyris Pedoulakis made reference to the importance of mind and team spirit illustrated by the Panathinaikos players, while speaking at the after-game Press Conference: “We tried to have a good practice, to have energy throughout the entire encounter. It was really important to have a prepared mind and spirit because after the Cup Final we had a feeling of emptiness. We hang onto team spirit verified in 28 assist accumulated. It was a relatively easy game; there was a great distance in each team’s competitiveness. We must continue like so… I don’t believe that much more need be said as far as a technical analysis of the game. I wish all the best to Ikaros next and as for us…we continue”.
Ikaros Head Coach, Giorgos Kalafatakis, stated: “Initially I would like to congratulate coach and Panathinaikos for conquering the Cup. The game was more of a procedural nature for us. We knew what we were to face. I have been with the team for a week. I was aiming more towards getting certain guys’ confidence boosted, because they are talented and have tons of basketball in them and it was a positive that this was something we gained today. No criticism or technical analysis is called for on our behalf. The two teams are entirely different. And we await our injured that we will have with us from mid next week”.
Sofoklis Schortsanitis from the clover players, stressed: “It was a tough game. We had instructions to be focused, play hard; enforce pressure full court from the very beginning. It was really important as far as mentality for the upcoming games, especially in Euroleague to get to a good performance. We managed, behind tough defense and concentration in the specific department, to make the game easier. We all knew what happened in the first round game. All the rest ran smoothly and it was a pleasing game”.
